Due Diligence

By John Malachy Raftery October 15, 2022 1 Min Read
For well over a decade around millennium's turn,
'Twixt Glenamaddy and Listowel many miles did I burn.
At what John Lynch was cooking up in his cranial urn
Full of anticipation, rhymes and history to filmically churn.
Welcome Clieveragh calls to action I n'eer thought to spurn.

His mindful eye for detail, for quality in all we did,
Inspired confidence, as from scene to scene we slowly slid.
From forgotten sacred places with due diligience lifting the lid,
Amid North Kerry hinterland where ancestral spirits hid.
Of sloth did we rid ourselves, wheeling without brake or skid.

By Tim Griffin's expert guidance always ably assisted,
Through Holy Wells and Burial Grounds our enthusiasm persisted.
While on optimal shooting-angles Charles Nolan insisted;
A tight team comprising, whose force couldn't be resisted.
From perfecting this our legacy we n'eer faltered or desisted.

On multiple forays, welters did we record, achieve.
Then over to John for painstaking editing, designing a sleeve.
Finished production caused our hearts with pride to heave.
Noreen's sandwiches 'fore I'd leave... for her do we now grieve.
There, good grace of God and John, life sentences did reprieve.
